Basketball Camp Recap

February saw a good turnout for the FREE BASKETBALL CAMP for Madison Elementary kids in Grades 3, 4 and 5  that was held every Saturday. The camp was co-sponsored by HoC and The Vineyard Church. The goal was to get those kids moving! During the winter months, physical activity is vital. More importantly, learning the importance of teamwork and communication will carry over into other aspects of children’s lives. This year’s basketball camp gave about 20 children the opportunity to explore the possibilities of pursuing basketball.

Step Out Against Hunger Walk

Date: April 29

The House of the Carpenter will hold its 2nd annual “Hunger Walk” to raise awareness about food Insecurity for adults, seniors and children. This 2.5-mile walk will begin at the House of the Carpenter, 200 S. Front Street, Wheeling, go across the historic Wheeling Suspension Bridge, continue down Main Street and return via Chapline Street, ending back at the House of the Carpenter.

The annual event raises money for HoC Feeding Programs and awareness to our friends and neighbors that people are going hungry even in our own community.

Last year’s inaugural Hunger Walk saw individuals, churches and walking enthusiasts participate. We look forward to you walking with us!
