The House of the Carpenter is a Christ-centered organization affiliated with the West Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Located on Wheeling Island, the House of the Carpenter is not reserved just for Wheeling or West Virginia residents. Our goal is to serve all of God’s children and ensure that all are welcomed into a community that is safe and filled with grace.
Affiliated with the UMC, those who receive our services, volunteer, or provide leadership to the project are not limited by race, gender, orientation, religious affiliation, or nationality. We provide programs for Ohio, West Virginia, and neighboring communities.

The House of the Carpenter has a mission to expand the ministry and address the needs of children and youth in poverty. Our goal continues to be ministering to the whole person. This holistic approach continues to meet their basic human needs, while also developing skills to enhance their lives, and addresses the spiritual longing we all have.
As part of our ministry, we have expanded and built a Youth Center (attached to the current facility). This youth center provides much-needed space for existing ministries, but more than that it provides a safe place for neighborhood youth and their families to come and engage as we continue to grow and develop our relationships with them.
